Just came back from 2 gatherings at Cafe Cartel:
1st 3 months JC friends and Larry's Birthday..
-hey time's running out so forgive me for two-timing my dinners ;)-

but FIRST Shane and i go pet shopping.. we choose something for each other that we think shows resemblance.

OK, so exams are over and im supposed to be really happy and having the time of my life.. but i wasn't.. with the exception of Martiniboo's birthday party which was really nice and lounge-y, I was stuck with my uncle Henry visiting from London.. Oh he's the nice guy who bought me my Tiffany bracelet, but the way and rate he talks is just *ugh* irritating (to be nice).

If you offer him pizza, he'll go on to tell you how whatever u just offered him was crap and nothing compares to the parlour he patrons next to his summer home in southern France.

If you tell him how that was a nice shot for a guy his age, he'll go on to tell you how he was the captain of both his highschool and varsity basketball teams.

If he wants tea and you buy him tea, he'll say that its disgusting and lightyears away from the the coffee shop down Harrypotter street (or whatever) in London.

If he says he wants you to take him to the best and newest cinema in town and you happened to mention the IMAX (or worse, some civilian GV cinema), he'll say its bullshit and dogshit compared to the personal home theater system that his general practitioner doctor son had engineered and patented.

If you tell him Geylang is a red light district, he'll say its a nunnery compared to London's King's Cross.

And im not even gonna start on what he thinks of local food.

But because he my uncle and we see him once every 5 years or so, my parents said i have to 'be there' for every single day he here. So imagine the 2X5 hours roadtrip i just came back from, driving up to Genting Highlands with him.. in the same car.. the 'conversations'... *ugh* Not that he's 'wrong' about anything (heaven forbid).. but hey, if its not good enough for you, then go away!

There, a whole blog dedicated to my dear Uncle Henry who has taken up 8 precious days of my holiday. He's leaving tomorrow morning. Leaving me with 20 free days in Singapore before i leave for my 8-month student exchange to the US.

If you're my aquaintance and 'heard' frm somewhere that I 'look' Chinese but 'fake' an accent or something, I will explain now (though it's never once and for all): I'm an American born Chinese, my parents are Hongkongers. I was born in Chicago, raised in Hongkong till I was 5, moved to Boca Raton, Florida and stayed till I was 11, moved to Trophy Club, Texas and stayed till i was 13, moved to Singapore and have stayed there since. Throughout my preschool-univeristy life i have attended 13 schools so far. Was it tough? did it make me bitter? I dont think so, ask any of my friends.. or try and find someone who hates me.. *wink*
