Yay!! Lynn hugged me! So i shall continue blogging :)

It's kinda odd to start an entry with a photo of myself. But I think this is a very nice picture of me, even if i say so myself :)

You see, this was taken by my date on saturday. We just watched The Snow Queen at the Esplanade (which i also saw joanna dong dancing in) and had lunch at Thai Express afterwards, where he took this picture. one take. i didnt even finish telling him how to focus with my cranky camera and he snapped it. I was very plesantly surprised, its not even photoshopped for sharpness/lighting or anything! I tried to get him to take another one, given the satisfying results of this one, but he'd already lost interest. His order of thai olive chicken rice came and he was busy picking out the tomato and tossing it onto my plate. He was also very intrigued by how the rice was purple and told me how it was similar to this other korean rice his mother cooks. Interesting guy i've snagged eh?

Well here's a picture of him:

Isn't he adorable? He thinks he looks good like that with the astroboy fist thing. he did the same pose for like every pic he was aware i was taking. i think/hope its just a phase. here're a few that he wasnt prepared for:

Hehe.. so this is actually my tuition kid Youngjae. I got a few stares from the mommies and daddies, i guess i might have seemed like a young single mom or something, or maybe just a milf. haha.

(For those that don't know, 'milf' is just short for 'mildred felicia'...)

Although he's only 6, we had a very mature conversation:

YJ: When you're an adult, are u going to marry?

Me: Maybe.. why?

YJ: But you have to! If a boy asks you to marry him, you have to say yes!

(male chauvinist in the making)

Me: But i have to see if like the boy first, i'll only marry him if i like him.

YJ: So he take you to watch movies and shopping and eat rice and then you'll marry him?

Me: haha.. maybe, I have to see if i like him enough..

YJ: If he do more kind things? Will you marry him?

Me: Haha.. I guess

YJ: Will you born babies?

Me: I guess :) Will you?

YJ:You have to! My daddy marry somebody and born me. (notice how he doesnt say 'mommy' but 'somebody')

Me: Would you like to have a baby boy or girl?

YJ: Boy.

Me: *rolls-eyes*

Later on in the day, i gave him his christmas present that i got him the day before, some pokemon coloring kit, and before he even opened it, he insisted that he'd buy something back for me...

YJ: When is your birthday?

Me: Next year, july. But you dont have to buy me anything.

YJ: When i grow up and have a lot of money, I'm going to buy you a necklace on your birthday next year. An 'epiendrix' necklace.

Me: You mean 'expensive'.

YJ: Yeah, expensive necklace. One hundred dollars.

(and he smiles to himself)

On friday, Wan-tsin and I went to Leanne's party at The Claymore. Since it was just behind shaw we had the benefit of doing real last min present shopping and settled for this Guess handbag we remembered her liking - and its was on sale! *yippie!* but somehow, both tsin and i were pretty sick.. flu, sore throat, the works. (i think some i got it from zouk on wed night. bet someone was sick and shared drinks with all of us! rox? hanwei1? hanwei2? ben? fai? 'fess up! more on this later)

(Tsin and i singing songs by ourselves at the poolside)

So anyways, i didnt really know anyone at leanne's party but the food was awesome. Breeks!/seoul garden catering.. really yummy. Aquaman (a Sexy Statistician as well, who's real name is jeremy) only came like much much later cuz he was coming from the airport. Pictures are still with wan-tsin so before i post them i guess u could check it out on her blog

(Aquaman, Tsin, Lea, Me.. in accidental order of the obvious)

Now a word abt Aquaman:

he wasnt in our original project grp. The five of us were happily minding our own business and counting stars on SPSS and Aquaman just decided to proclaim that he'd like to marry joanne especkerman cuz her last name sounds like 'spiderman'. But what he really wanted to be was Aquaman. so joanne suggests we call him aquaman instead of her marrying him. and so we do.

After lea's party we went down to Barcelona to do what i love doing ;) And especially to check out eugene cuz i havent heard him perform with the other guys before. I asked along a strange mix of my friends : sharon, hanwei, rox and aquaman.. so at first i was really scared that they wouldnt be comfortable with each other.. but rox and aquaman got along great when they realised and went raving abt their taiwanese parentage.. and it turned out that aquaman was actually army camp mates with Reverie so that was pretty cool. I was so proud of myself :) And they played my fav song! 'Time after time' *grin* So even though i left early cuz i was still feeling sick and i didnt even finish my $17 frozen margarita, I left happy that night :)

So on wednesday, i went for my first ladies' night at zouk. Oh don't gawk, its true. The KR bash in year one held on a wednesday in zouk doesnt count cuz i was 'involved' in the bash and left almost right after my part was done. And this was probably the first time i went clubbing in singapore without an excuse. like it wasnt prom, or anyones birthday, or halloween for that matter.. haha. and i have to say it was incredibly fun.. perhaps it started with weewee the 'member' bringing rox and me right through the queues and waltzing into members' area. the rest of the night was a blur (of shaven heads, heh).. drank so much in the first 15mins i couldnt stand straight! when weewee told me i looked a little red, i told him he looked blue! Yo pienso mi amigo es azul! And then i suddenly remembered that i didnt do my Module Preference Exercise for next sem so i called yinqiboo who told me to sms her what i wanted cuz i guess i really wasnt making coherent sense. heh. and i found myself staring at my phone struggling to spell 'adolescent' and 'psychology' correctly while playing '5-10' with the jugs of longislandtea and screwdrivers at the same time. i also remember the fairy lights above our sofa to be pretty. hehe. the alcohol wore off after awhile and rox and i snuck a picture:

See the tan? see the tan? haha ok maybe not. But we were working on it the day before! Look here's proof!

Sexy Statisticians DaY ouT =]

The english songs available at k box are really kinda dumb.. and even though your face might light up when u do spot some nice songs ( like oldies) the woman that pops out from behind a tree right when the song starts can 'leave you tremblin' ... Shane warned me abt it, and he was right.

And its even worse when u choose dumbass songs like we did.. like jo's 'under the sea' (right) that got wan-tsin in spasms.. and jo and my duet of 'pretty fly for a white guy' where i really couldnt face the screen cuz the woman was like doing the macarena in slow-mo on some bridge in what looks like the botanic gardens!

OKok so enough of us english song stooges trying hard to defy karaoke norms and etiquette.. the REAL karaok-ing began.. And elibirdbird can SING! she makes chinese sound so nice! the way its supposed to be i think :) So everyone got sucked in by that and started singing chinese songs.. Here's wan-tsin going giddy-ly delirious with the wide and DECENT selection of chinese songs..

Yup! Even i joined in! I sang my first mandarin chinese songs that day! Ok this photo is a little misleading cuz i cant rightly say that i sang the chinese songs all by myself.. it was mostly elibirdbird performing and me and leanne singing every other word, or whatever we knew in the chorus. But hey, im proud of me. *grin* its a confidence i havent felt in a long time :)

Wells there's only so much of Chinese hour that miss robers, especkerman and yuen can take.. so here we were busy taking taking pictures of ourselves again.. while wan-tsin and elibirdbird belted out their sunyanzi's and FIR's and some uber-scarily-fast chinese songs. Hey, cant read chinese? Act jap!

Bored + Hungry = Cannibalism

"Jo attempting to bite Mil’s ear off. We all know how Mil always looks good enough to eat. *licks lips*" -so says wan-tsin's blog.=]

Everybody loves me. =)

So after exercising our our lungs and abs to decent chinese songs and ridiculous english songs respectively, we went shopping at paragon, trying on everything that gives you every reason for a sugar daddy. After awhile, we remembered that we had the camera. So there we went taking more retarded shots.

Galactic Pink Eskimo Alien shopping in GUESS!

"Mi..mi.. phone.. HOME.."

I know what you're thinking:

"..."

Uhoh.. i guess we galactic eskimos made quite a commotion.. we got discovered by the Guess woman who said we cant take pictures.. but we're doing it anyway.. first time on Earth mah. But why am i the only who's scared? Does no one else CARE about anything anymore?!!

I think i like monday night tv.

Now this entry is all about what i just watched on TV. Just so you know. Incase you were expecting something else.

First it was Scrubs.. just kinda caught it halfway after walking out from the shower.. i usually hate watching things from halfway, but this got me giggling like even before i got the bearings of the show . so i watched the rest of it. anyways, heres a riddle JD (the main dude) posed to the redneck janitor and friend:

"Two coins add up to thirty cents and one of them is not a nickel."

Given that the american coins in circulation now are quarters ($0.25), dimes ($0.10), nickels ($0.05) and pennies ($0.01)..
what two coins?

Well the janitor and friend go the libRary and did research and said:

"A penny and... a 1972 dime with a Roosevelt imperfection, today worth exactly twenty-nine cents."

But thats not the answer.

J.D.: "Nope, nope, nope. The correct answer is: A quarter and a nickel."
Janitor: "Uh, no. Because you said one of 'em isn't a nickel."
J.D.: "Right. The other one is."

The Janitor's eyes widen in fury.

Hehe. Well there was a bigger plot obviously. the 'J.D.-Elliot-Sean' one. And i have to say i learned something from Elliot, but lets not bore you with that. Just remind me to catch it next week. *grin*

And i think im a sucker for the Sookee rose cut (i think) diamond commericial.. you know, the one with the two little kids lying in the grass and holding hands? That smile the little girl gives at the end is just..enviable :)

Anyways, after that came Alias. I was never an obsessed fan ( like Spoon is), but i guess i never watched an epidode that didnt captivate me. Besides, i like jennifer garner, and Vaughn- sorry, 'michael vartan'- is pure hotness. ok maybe not pure; he's got cool, sexy, suave, sincere, and vulnerable all mixed into it. *hmmm..* Anyways.. skip all the cia/fbi/sloan/munich/terrorist stuff.. and you get this killing dialogue between Sydney (who's back from the dead) and Vaughn (who's remarried in the 2 years she was 'dead') ok, actually only vaughn's talking:

Vaughn: The other day you said I gave up on us because I didn't have faith; that somehow you didn't mean enough to me.
Sydney (pained): When I said that, I was...
Vaughn (earnestly, in a pained half-whisper): No, let me finish.

(Cut to Sydney, she looks at him, sorrow and pain reflected in her eyes.)

Vaughn: After you died, I used to talk to you...like you were still around. Literally, out loud, whole conversations about...nothing
(Vaughn looks lost in memory as he speaks): the weather...Should I get a new car? Should I have another drink?...

(Cut to Sydney. She's clearly hurting for Vaughn. Cut back to Vaughn as he continues to speak.)

Vaughn (meeting her eyes now): Then one day...you started answering. (shakes his head slightly...his voice turns a bit unsteady and hoarse.) I mean, I could hear you in my head...like you were right next to me, Sydney.

(Cut to Sydney. It looks like she wants to cry. Cut back to Vaughn.)

Vaughn: And although rationally I knew I was a guy who...stayed up nights drinking...talking to his dead girlfriend... Still, I couldn't stop.

(Cut to Sydney. Her eyes are watery. Cut back to Vaughn.)

Vaughn: So, before you tell me you can handle me coming back to the CIA, there are two things you need to know: First...is that I was so in love with you...that it nearly killed me.

(Cut to Sydney, eyes still watery, her face awash in pain and sorrow, and then back to Vaughn.)

Vaughn:
And second...(Vaughn shakes his head)...that I don't regret moving on with my life.

(Cut to Sydney. She's devestated by what Vaughn went through. She nods.)

Ouch Sydney. but if that's not enough, the episode ends with her being introduced to her new colleague, Agent Lauren Reed:

Sydney: If there's anything I can do to help...
Lauren (in a respectful, almost apologetic tone): You should know, in addition to being the new NSC liaison, I'm also Michael Vaughn's wife.

(Cut to Sydney's reaction. She's stunned. Her eyes widen.)

Well well so exams are finally over and im finally blogging..

This december seems really short, actually.. and theres so much to do!

First off i gotta wake up early tmr (10am) to take advantage of the early bird karaoke rates with my stats friends.. yes yes, us sexy statisticians, though sexy, are rather cheapo. So keep the entry short and sweet, mil, just like you. *grin* My first time going to k-box actually. *so exciting* haha. I'm counting on the fact that they didn't lie to me abt the availability of english songs. Cuz even the 2 eurasian girls in the gang can read chinese. Only 'ke ren' cannot!! *how embarassing*

[yes yes, i see you re-reading that sentence. ke ren is my chinese name. and no i cant really read chinese. even though i really really am. .. my crazy korean tuition kid just found out i wasnt white after 3 months]

And im going to hongkong from 14-21dec! Hannah, hanwei, jovian, will all be there too! And on the 23rd im off again to KL till after Christmas.. yes i'm spending Christmas with my parents and relatives in KL for fear of a miserable Christmas here if i was to stay in Singapore alone. dont ask why. its just a hunch, that it'll just not be right.

hmm but till then.. what else does mimi yuen wanna do.. hmm.. go tanning with rox! yes. thats for tues. and clubbing with my buddy penn pals and my long put-on-hold acjc pals.. i miss sha/ser/zhen/jen!! really looking foward to that.. though i hope zouk wont be as crowded this wed as i was told it was last wed. I dont club alot, but enough to know that it really SUCKS to go when its like a can of sardines. glittery, slutty, tipsy, smokey, stinky and other sardines dancing for attention or trying to squeeze their way through to the potty. how fun. ok i think i just convinced myself of not wanting to go anymore. haha. but i will. because of FWENDS. i like being sardined with happy fwends :) lynn-lynn you wanna go too??

ooh! and sexy statistician leanne's mad-hatter 21st birthday party on friday!! yes, we've been going gaga over it since she told us abt it in september.. the reason(s)? #1: well we all have an excuse to wear that otherwise poser/tacky/act-cute hat that we secretly have and only dare to wear in front of the mirror. #2 leannes a freakin hot babe. leannes got enough hot sexy rich guy friends to last her at least a dozen lifetimes. and we've been asking her (read: making her promise) to share. leanne's gotta share. its only fair. haha.

actually, on the issue of guys.. the sexy statisticians and i were discussing something abt it sometime back (actually we always do, what am i talking abt.) but i just happened to have remembered. one of us (lets call her babe-a) has a thing for 'all-rounder' kinda guys, (you know - cute face, hot bod, talented, smart, eloquent, loaded, flashy career, sense of security, LOVES YOU TO BITS, yadayada) ..the type that looks perfect on paper (infact, most people would say who wouldnt want a partner like that. like duh.) But despite being all that he is, this certain perfect guy who was kinda with babe-a, didnt make babe-a head over heels for him. and babe-a wonders why.

and this is what we concluded: guys are like cars. (i know, 3 years ago i blogged that boyfriends were like ice cream, but we must gain more perspectives, mustn't we?) and that 'perfect guy' is like.. a porche convertible. (or ferrari. or lambo. or whatever your perfect car is.) its very pretty and the manual says it has and can do all these awesome things that you've always wanted and more. but a car is just a car. without the key and the gas, the two of you aren't gonna go anywhere but stay in the showroom. the gas, in this analogy, is chemistry. in my opinion, chemistry is perhaps the most crucial thing apart from 4 wheels and a running engin (and to a certain extent, the 'colour of the car' *heh*). so if you place a porche convertible and a never ending supply of gasoline in front of me and made me choose, i'd choose the latter. (given that u can't trade the car in for anything, duh. and no jokes abt how i dont even have a driver's license yet. ;P) but then again, this is what i say now. i wonder whether i'll still be so noble and idealistic when the opportunity actually does come around. so yeah, gas, in this analogy, is the chemistry between two people. i'll let you decide what the key would symbolize in your relationship *kehehe* ..whatever it is, i hope your ride comes with a key that fits.

ok i just realised that that ive no main idea in this post. but isnt that like all my other posts?erratic and off the top of my head. and i need to sleep. energy for 'k-boxing' tmr! haha ok. lame joke. i know. something only darryl would appreciate. because darryl is lame. he said so himself.

[note to kimmie: see i blogged! for you! haha well kinda.. your message kinda gave me a kickstart. thanks for reading even though i dont update that often :)]

Don't pretend you weren't wondering..

If you're my aquaintance and 'heard' frm somewhere that I 'look' Chinese but 'fake' an accent or something, I will explain now (though it's never once and for all): I'm an American born Chinese, my parents are Hongkongers. I was born in Chicago, raised in Hongkong till I was 5, moved to Boca Raton, Florida and stayed till I was 11, moved to Trophy Club, Texas and stayed till i was 13, moved to Singapore and have stayed there since. Throughout my preschool-univeristy life i have attended 13 schools so far. Was it tough? did it make me bitter? I dont think so, ask any of my friends.. or try and find someone who hates me.. *wink*
